​Why Choose the Dominica Watersports Association (DWA)?

​Our association consists of all Dive Centers in Dominica and most Watersports operators. (View Member's List)

While scuba diving in Dominica, you are diving with a member of the Dominica Watersports Association (DWA). Our members are responsible for developing and ensuring that all safety standards are met and followed by all operators. We also put considerable effort into developing the tourism market, as well as educating children and adults about the need for sustainable tourism practices and conservation of our natural marine resources.

We believe that the Caribbean’s best diving
also deserves the most professional
​dive centers.

All DWA members are required
to meet the following requirements:

• ​Oxygen on all dive boats.
• Working VHF radios on all water-sports boats.
• Boat captains be on all dive boats while divers are down.
• To have in place an Evacuation Procedure, tested annually.
• Carry approved insurance for activities.
• All dive-masters and instructors must be insured.
• A maximum of 10 divers for each dive-master.
• Be approved by the Dominica Department of Fisheries.

Our Objectives and Goals:

• Promote safe diving and water sport usage practices
• Promote and develop water sports in Dominica
• Develop safety and emergency procedures
• Develop operational guidelines for water sports
• Establish and maintain a mooring system(s)
• Sustain use of marine resources and minimize conflict among users
• Develop marine parks / reserves
• Promote public awareness and education in marine affairs
• Promote positive interactions and dialogue with other agencies.
• Acquire and establish a Recompression Chamber in Dominica
• Facilitate cooperative purchasing and insurance.
